Blue Manufacturing Company - History

Edward Z. Liston and Marlene E. Blue met while they were employed at Thatcher Glass in Streator, IL.  They married January 2, 1956 in IL.  In 1967 they moved to Millport, NY with their 4 children and dog Pal, where Blue Mfg. is still located, and owned by their daughter Theresa.

• 1968    Marlene and Edward Liston started the company with the invention of the smooth wire swab.
• 1974    Thatcher Glass purchased company.
• 1984    AJ Murphy Co. purchased company from Thatcher Glass.  Added twisted wire swab, in addition to the smooth wire swab.
• 1988    Edward and Marlene Liston purchased company from AJ Murphy Co.
• 1991    Theresa K Liston joined the business.
• 1996    Began selling tire brushes.
• 1999    Edward Z. Liston passed away.
• 2005   Marlene E. Liston passed away.
